M.E.C.
Military European Company
is first registered in Geneva in 1956 by the Company Giorgio Giovagnoni and marketed as the watch of the European Common Market.
The brand exploits the technical and design skills of a selected number of factories across the World which are awarded as key suppliers by some of the most renown brands in the watch industry, universally recognized for the medium/high quality of their products. In their early days M.E.C. became established in the domestic market selling their products through the conventional watch shop channel and as a brand of traditional wrist watches, however also targeting the promising market of the military watches with a marginal portion of their production. In those same years the Company Giorgio Giovagnoni, based in Bologna, gets also involved with the distribution of the brand FORTIS, known among the experts as one of the leading manufacturers of military watches and astronautic equipment.
In the 90's the management was taken up by the son Maurizio, who brilliantly took the Company to the current level of reputation in the market and who is still successfully running the company. Backed by the experience built in nearly half a century in the market, and inspired by the increasing success of the fashion of military-like garments and accessories, the company boosted its efforts and created a full collection of wrist watches for the military use, without compromising on the distinctive design which, along with the generous dimensions that facilitate the reading, match robustness and impact resistance that are typical of a military instrument.
It came then natural marketing the new line, branded MILITARY EUROPEAN COMPANY exclusively in their natural environment of Armouries and Military Stores. The collection includes mechanical, automatic and chronograph watches both of Swiss production with Eta , Unitas and Valjou calibres , as well as limited editions of individually numbered watches , and quartz chronograph with jap movement . Unlike in the very early days, when "military watches" were basically remakes of products originally manufactured for the soldiers, aircraft pilots and sailors of the main armies, nowadays that same definition applies to a broader set of watches, however all characterised by functions and features inspired by the military use. For example sake, M.E.C. watches feature cases with satin finish preventing the reflected light to reveal your position to the enemy. The hands are coated with luminescent material that facilitate the reading even in darkness. Cases, dials and crowns are generously proportioned to ensure a practical and safe use in all conditions. Functionality is further enhanced by threaded crowns and bottoms, thick glasses and by additional functions that also come handy like for instance the chronograph, the compass or the 24-hour function.
The company, still based in Bologna, is consistently market oriented and focuses on customers requirements, while commercially relies on a team of salesmen long experienced in the military, weapons and hunting fields.
The brand
MILITARY EUROPEAN COMPANY
can therefore be found in the most qualified Armouries and Military shops, also supported by dedicated and highly effective marketing campaigns
