Last weekend, I stopped by the Bulova booth to get a first-hand look at the Spaceview 214 reissue that marks the 50th anniversary of Accutron. This is #1 of the 1,000 numbered pieces. The company is excited about these hand made timepieces that feature the original brushed steel alpha case, domed crystal and electronic timing mechanism.

When Accutron debuted on October 25, 1960, it was the first electronic watch without springs or an escapement. It operated by an electronically activated tuning fork that was considered the most accurate timing mechanism available. The ambient noise was too loud for me to hear, but I'm assured that the reissue also hums

The Spaceview 214 reissue is presented in a specially designed wood and glass case with an engraved plaque. The watches will be available this Fall 2010 with an MSRP of $4,000.
