Omega’s Roman Holiday with Phelps & Rosolino
« στις: Αύγουστος 05, 2009, 03:46:20 μμ »
Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps was welcomed to Rome for the 13th FINA World Championships by fellow OMEGA brand ambassador, Italian swimming star Massimiliano Rosolino. In a scene reminiscent of the film Roman Holiday, the two swimming sensations posed for pictures with a classic Vespa in front of the VillageRoma09, where the competitions are taking place.

Asked about his impressions of the city hosting the World Championships, Phelps said, “What I’ve seen is beautiful. I envy my mom because she’ll have more time to see the sights. Not surprisingly, I’ve been spending a lot of time in the pool getting ready for my events. “

Phelps and Rosolino were relaxed as they chatted amiably and posed for photographers. After their brief and unusual break ahead of the start of competition, the two agreed that it was time to go back to work.

Michael Phelps and Massimiliano Rosolino have both made history in international swimming competitions: Phelps will always be remembered for winning eight gold medals at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games; Rosolino is the most successful Italian swimmer of all time. Both are brand ambassadors for OMEGA, the Official Timekeeper of Roma09 – the 13th FINA World Championships.

Another champion from the world of swimming is joining the exclusive team of OMEGA spokespersons, adding his name to others who have made their mark on the history of this sport, such as Michael Phelps, Alexander Popov, and Ian Thorpe.

Thirty years old last July and a champion in four Olympic Games, from Atlanta to Beijing, Massimiliano Rosolino is the most successful athlete in the history of Italian swimming. Among his trophies are 60 medals, won in the most important meets, including his gold from Sydney in the 200 individual medley.
