http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=200490This review will be about the AGAV014 retro chronograph by Tomoki Sukezane for Seiko under the Wired brand.
The Wired brand also has associations with Pulsar and Alba, both subdivisions of Seiko.
Watches under the Wired brand are mostly experimental or fashion oriented.
In this case they asked a very famous Japanese stylist to “design” a couple of watches.
My eye was caught by the retro looking AGAV014 which borrows heavily from Seiko’s own history,
in particular the bullhead as pointed out by WUS-member Isthmus.
The similarities end at the design of the dial because obviously it’s not a bullhead.
Other design cues from the past can be found in the shape of the case and bracelet.
I paid $215,- including shipping and it took 4 days to arrive from Japan
Dimensions:
Case: 43mm without crown
Lug to lug: 48mm
Dial/crystal: 31
Height: 11mm
Insidelug: 12mm
Outsidelug: 24
Thickness links: 2.7mm
Bracelet tapers to 20mm at the clasp
The bracelet H-style links are all pinned with pin and collar making it easy to even adjust it to the smallest wrist.
The supplied pintool however is a thin stamped sheetmetal affair only strong enough to handle the appointed adjustment links.
These links are held together by pin and coilsprings in the middle link. The pins push out with almost no resistance making me
wonder how good this system is in the longrun. The solid links are 2.7mm thick and at least 1mm too thin to complement the watch IMHO.
Looking at the lugs and endlink I see about 1mm discrepance to make it flush with the case. Seiko skimmed on the bracelet here, shame on you.
Layout of chronomovement:
At 3 ‘o clock we have a 24hr dial which only gives you the AM/PM indication
At 6 ‘o clock we see the actual chronometer which measures time up to 12 hours
At 9 ‘o clock is a permanent secondhand
