Hello Gentlemens,
I haven't got really the time to check the new topics as I was very busy with
the workshop.
But here are some general information about the B - zero - one (as we say in switzerland) :
The purpose ?:
- To guarantee the brand's independance from ETA
- To be able to determine their own production and quality level.
The philosophy ?:
- 70 hours power reserve
- The winding system operates in both rotation directions
- The vertical coupling clutch ensures perfectly "smooth" start without any jumps of the chronograph hand.
- The column wheel guarantees the prefectly accurate and reliable sequence of start/stop/reset fonctions.
- The fast date adjustement system, without any risk of damaging the mechanism.
- B01 is an intelligent platform (modularity, etc..)
Price ? :
- The price is, of course, higher than a simple chronomat. But I would say that Breitling
make a "gift" with the price of the B01, let me explain:
To ingenier, and develop a high quality movement like the B01, most of the other brand like IWC, Montblanc etc would sale the same quality movement around 30 000 $.
Technicaly ?:
I took me one week to learn how to repair a B01. I would say that, yes the B01 is a smart movement for watchmaker, but not everybody can repair it... you need the level 3 (minimum).
Other than 24 hour hand etc. you can module and adapt all type of complication like, chrono rattrapante, perpetual calendar even a tourbillon.
Eastheticaly the B01, is a beautifull movement with a very fine finish.
3 hand movement ?:
A project for this type of movement is currently being examined, as are other variations based on caliber B01.
