Το παρακάτω ρολόι ανήκε στον συγχωρεμένο παππού μου. Απ' ότι μου έχει πει η μητέρα μου ο παππούς μου της είχε πει ότι το βρήκε στον πόλεμο. Το είχε δώσει σε ωρολογοποιό (εκείνο τον καιρό) και του έκανε ένα refresh. Απο τότε ο παππούς μου το χρησιμοποιούσε κανονικά. Το πήγα σε ωρολογοποιό και μου έβαλε δείκτες γιατί είχε μόνο έναν. Ο ωρολογοποιός μου είπε ότι έπαθε πλάκα και επίσης μου επισήμανε να το προσέχω πολύ. Υπολογίζω ότι το ρολόι ο παππούς μου το βρήκε κατά τη δεκαετία του 1940 τουλάχιστον (φυσικά δεν γνωρίζω πόσο καιρό μπορεί να το είχε ο προκάτοχος που το έχασε).
Ήθελα να ρωτήσω αν μπορεί να καταλάβει κανένας τι μηχανισμός είναι η αν καταλαβαίνει την προέλευσή του ή οτιδήποτε άλλο. Το μεγάλο γρανάζι γράφει επάνω "PHENIX"
Να σημειώσω ότι είναι κουρδιστό με ιδιοπεριστρεφόμενη σούστα και δουλεύει εξαίρετα.

The Phenix watch trademark was created in 1873 in Porrentruy, Switzerland.
Phenix was[vague] a real ‘Clockwork Manufacture’ meaning that all pieces of clock were produced on the site. Due to its craftsmanship and the quality of its clocks, the brand with the Firebird obtained numerous awards and successes[1].
In the 1960s, Phenix was part of a three clock brands entity: the two other brands were the renowned Thomen and Vulcain. The latter was relaunched in 2004.

Phenix Company History
The 'Phenix Watch Co., SA' was founded in Porrentruy in 1873 as 'Dubail, Monnin, Frossard & Cie.' Pritchard points out that the company set a mark in Swiss watch history as it was the first watch company that had a registered caliber.
My Phenix - a family heirloom with a history that dates back to the times when Namibia was still 'Deutsch-Südwestafrika' (German Southwest Africa) and that has spent its active years in Swakopmund and Windhoek in the early 1910s.
The movement has the inscription 'Déposé' ('registered,' upside down in the shadow); it is signed 'Matador' (at the 8 o'clock position). I couldn't find out more about this name or when this caliber was used.
Below the main subject, the phenix over fire, we find 'Phönix' in older watches which was replaced by 'PHENIX' in 1887; that's what my watch shows (left).
On February 3, 1900, the company 'Dubail, Monnin, Frossard & Cie' was registered as 'Société d'horlogerie de Porrentruy.' They won a gold medal at the Paris Exposition in 1900 already under the new name:
Simultaneously, the formerly independent 'Société d'horlogerie de Bassecourt' was integrated into the new company. The Société Horlogère de Porrentruy 'inherited' from Bassecourt the trademark 'Rooster with Chickens' that had been registered in 1883.
Now, in the very early 20th century, the Société Horlogère de Porrentruy had these trademarks registered:
In addition, there were the word-marks ARGUS and EROS.
The five-pointed star in a half moon was a common trademark. It was kept for 'Phenix' for a long time; here, you see it in the 1955 'Official Catalog of Swiss Watch Repair Parts.'
The 'Société Horlogère de Porrentruy' changed its name to 'Phenix Watch Co.' in the 1920s.
Time for Breakfast
I could not find out when exactly Phenix started to make 'Croissants' - Pritchard mentions that 'Croissant' had been a trademark of Monnin in the 1920s.
Croissant watches were really fine timepieces. The inscription 'Chronomètre' on the dial does not mean that these watches were tested in an observatory contest, but the Breguet hands and the finely detailed dials show that these watches were obviously aimed at higher market segments.
